Westfield, IN, July 3, 2012 -- The US Athletic Kings claimed the championship in the inaugural season of the Central Indiana Travel Baseball League.
With temperatures hovering around the century mark, the Kings won the title by defeating the Westfield Indians 6-4 in the semifinals, then knocking off the Carmel Bullets 6-2 in the championship game.
The championship game marked the fourth time the Kings faced off against the Bullets this season, with the Kings taking three out of four.
Carmel reached the final by defeating the Hoosier Diamonds 7-6 in a nail biter in the other league semifinal.
The US Athletic Kings advanced to third round of USSSA International Championships with 14-7 win over Woodstock Thunder (Wisconsin). The victory was the KIngs second playoff round game and seventh game overall in the tournament featuring 44 of the top teams from around the country and around the globe. The Kings international opponents included Brazil and Puerto Rico and potential matchups with the Dominican Republic and Japan.
USAthletic Kings are actively involved in giving back to the community. Kings players volunteer and help distribute over 3,000 coats for the local Coats 4 Kids each year.
